The vacancies arose from a mix of deaths, resignations, and political defections. In Gombe State, the federal seat has been empty since the death of Representative Yaya Bauchi Tongo in June. Similarly, in Bauchi State, the Sakwa assembly seat became vacant following the death of its incumbent. The Disina seat in the same state was vacated when the representative left the assembly to contest a local government chairmanship.

In Delta State, the Udu state assembly seat was declared vacant after Collins Egbetamah defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress. This move triggered the vacancy that will now be resolved in the upcoming polls. In Kano State, Rabiu Shuaibu vacated his state assembly seat to contest the federal constituency of Dawakin Kudu/Warawa. He subsequently won that federal by-election in June, leaving his former state seat open.
Voters in these constituencies are expected to cast their ballots between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm.
