Delhi Police Probe Gang-Rape of Minor by Fake Officers

Delhi police have launched a formal investigation into the alleged gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl in a southeast neighborhood, according to authorities. The incident occurred on Monday evening when the minor, who was visiting a temple with a male friend, was intercepted by three men claiming to be police officers.

The accused reportedly threatened the pair with arrest if they reported the assault before carrying out the crime. Police responded to the scene shortly after receiving a call, taking the victim for a medical examination and deploying teams to locate the suspects under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Violence during suspect apprehension

The situation turned violent during the attempted arrest of one of the three accused. According to Press Trust of India, the suspect fired three shots at police officers as they approached him. One bullet struck an officer’s bulletproof vest, prompting a return of fire that hit the suspect in the right leg before he was taken into custody.

The footage, showing a group of men harassing a minor and her companion, has intensified public discourse regarding women's safety.
