Focus on Regional Cooperation
According to SGGP English Edition, the project has three themes. Marine environmental protection is the first. Maritime domain awareness is the second.
Maritime connectivity is the third theme. The goal is to build capacity for scholars. It also promotes joint research and practical solutions.
Leaders Highlight Strategic Importance
Director Nguyen Hung Son spoke at the launch. He said the work aligns with national resolution 20. This resolution aims to build a strong maritime nation.
A representative from KAS Vietnam noted the goal. They want to manage differences peacefully. The project will train the next generation of experts.
US Ambassador Jennifer Wicks emphasized maritime security. She cited challenges like transnational crime and illegal fishing. ASEAN will play a central role in these efforts.
Initial Training and Seminars
Organizers held a closed-door seminar first. The topic was maritime connectivity in Southeast Asia. This was part of the initial event series.
They also ran a capacity-building course. Fifty participants attended this training. All work in maritime-related fields.
