Ocean Power Technologies has confirmed that its three WAM-V classes executed five distinct mission sets during the REPMUS 2026 NATO exercise, acting as the only U.S. USVs integrated into allied command controls and providing hands-on training for U.S. naval personnel.
Yahoo reports that OPT was the sole provider of U.S. unmanned surface vessels integrated into allied command and control systems, with a WAM-V 22 unit specifically used to train U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel in autonomous operations. COO Jason Weed emphasized that the vessels were tasked with real-world operational duties rather than static demonstrations, validating their readiness for customer integration.
