Tradeweb Launches Local Saudi Debt Trading Platform

Tradeweb activates domestic execution for Saudi Riyal debt instruments. GIB Capital and Saudi Awwal Bank complete the first local transaction.
Tradeweb Markets Inc. launched a local-to-local trading workflow for Sukuk and Saudi Riyal debt instruments in Riyadh. This move extends the platform's capabilities beyond international investor access established in October 2025.
GIB Capital and Saudi Awwal Bank executed the first transaction under this new domestic regime. Post-trade processing and settlement were completed locally through Saudi Arabia’s Securities Clearing Center Company and Securities Depository Center Company.
Domestic Settlement Infrastructure Connected
The new workflow integrates electronic execution with local post-trade infrastructure. It aligns with the account structures and trading conventions of Saudi market participants.
Muqassa generates settlement instructions for Edaa to support the process. This creates a consistent audit trail from execution through post-trade processing for eligible professional investors.
Local Dealers Lead Initial Trades
Saudi Awwal Bank acted as the first local market maker on the platform. Its treasury team cited the value of a seamless digital trading lifecycle for clients and dealers.
GIB Capital highlighted the efficiency gains for domestic investors accessing dealer liquidity. The transaction supports the electronification of the Kingdom’s fixed income market while preserving local settlement arrangements.
Market Structure Modernization Continues
Tradeweb built the Saudi ATS following selection by the Capital Market Authority. The platform aims to bring more of the local SAR bond trading lifecycle into a connected electronic workflow.
The initiative targets improved efficiency and accessibility for local institutions. It reflects broader efforts to develop the financial sector under Saudi Vision 2030.
