Bangladesh Cuts 22-Carat Gold Price to 2,31,880 BDT

The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association reduces the cost of 22-carat gold by 2,158 BDT per bhori. The new rate takes effect immediately for all retail sales.
The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association cut the price of 22-carat gold by 2,158 BDT per bhori. The new retail price is 2,31,880 BDT, inclusive of value-added tax. This reduction follows a drop in pure gold values in the domestic bullion market.
The updated rates took effect at 10 am on Friday. The association issued an official notification to all member jewellers. Prices for other karatages also decreased in line with the 22-carat benchmark.
Revised rates for lower karatages
A bhori of 21-carat gold is now priced at 2,21,441 BDT. The cost of 18-carat gold stands at 1,90,123 BDT per bhori. Traditional category gold is set at 1,55,306 BDT. All figures include the mandatory value-added tax.
Merchants are prohibited from charging VAT separately on these items. The tax is already incorporated into the quoted retail prices. Crafting fees may vary depending on the design complexity of the jewelry piece.
Silver prices decline in parallel
The price of 22-carat silver fell by 116 BDT per bhori. The new rate is 5,016 BDT inclusive of tax. 21-carat silver is now priced at 4,782 BDT per bhori.
18-carat silver costs 4,082 BDT per bhori under the new schedule. Traditional silver is set at 3,091 BDT per bhori. These adjustments align with the broader downward trend in precious metal values.
Frequent adjustments dominate annual market
Gold rates have undergone 114 revisions in the current year. This includes 56 upward adjustments and 57 reductions. One adjustment was made specifically for VAT calculations.
