Bitcoin reached a seven-month high of $84,000 while Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong forecast a $400,000 price by 2030.
Key points
- Bitcoin rose above $84,000 on Monday, hitting its highest price level in seven months.
- Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong forecasts a Bitcoin price between $300,000 and $400,000 by 2030.
- The Senate rejected the Clarity Act, forcing the industry to rely on existing SEC and CFTC rules.
Bitcoin climbed above $84,000 on Monday to mark its highest level in seven months. This surge coincided with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong projecting a $400,000 price point by 2030.
Armstrong identified the recent dip to $60,000 as the cycle bottom. He linked this recovery to the typical post-halving market pattern observed in previous years.
Stablecoins Drive Growth
Armstrong stated that stablecoins and perpetual futures continue expanding despite Bitcoin’s price swings. He noted that AI integration is creating new demand for blockchain-based payment systems.
The executive highlighted Coinbase’s Base blockchain and USDC as key infrastructure components. He expects AI agents to shift from answering questions to executing financial transactions.
Regulatory Path Remains Unclear
The Senate failed to advance the Clarity Act for permanent market structure rules. Armstrong said Coinbase now assumes this legislation is dead unless lawmakers revive the process.
He expects the SEC and CFTC to use existing authority for new regulations. The SEC’s innovation exemption could facilitate tokenized equity access for U.S. investors.
Tokenization Strategy Expands
Armstrong declared that Coinbase intends to tokenize all asset classes including private companies. Tokenized equities would offer 24/7 trading and global settlement capabilities without losing shareholder rights.
Perpetual futures are expected to gain traction in the U.S. market. Armstrong described these instruments as a powerful tool combining leverage with continuous trading access.
