Kaiko has closed a $53 million funding round led by S&P Global to accelerate its growth in digital asset intelligence.

Kaiko raised $53 million in new capital. The funding extends a previous Series B round closed in 2022. S&P Global led the latest investment tranche. Nasdaq Ventures and Coinbase Ventures also participated. BNP Paribas and other institutional investors contributed to the deal. The company is based in France and operates under the legal name Challenger Deep SAS.

The startup provides market intelligence for over 20,000 digital assets. It collects data from blockchain logs, crypto exchanges, and lending protocols. Financial institutions access this information through cloud-based services. The new capital will fund expansion of existing datasets and infrastructure upgrades.

Core data products and technology

Kaiko Stream offers near real-time market data access. The service relies on the gRPC standard for application programming interfaces. This technology operates faster than the REST standard used in most APIs. The platform also provides historical market datasets for download. Customers can retrieve these records as spreadsheets twice daily. Alternatively, Kaiko syncs data directly to client cloud warehouses.

The company sells raw price points and derived analytical metrics. One key metric is implied volatility, which helps estimate future price fluctuations. Advanced users can customize risk calculation criteria. These tools allow institutions to tailor risk levels to specific investment strategies. The data supports decision-making across various digital asset classes.

New index suite launched

Kaiko debuted the S&P Kaiko Digital Asset Indices suite this month. This product enables fund managers to track cryptocurrency prices. Asset prices refresh every few seconds within the system. The launch marks a collaboration with S&P Global. S&P Global is also the lead investor in the current funding round. This partnership integrates index tracking with existing data services.

Future plans and recent acquisitions

The company will upgrade its Kaiko Data Infrastructure platform. This tool allows organizations to share financial information via blockchains. It can load blockchain-stored datasets into traditional analytics tools. The funding also provides options for further acquisitions. Kaiko purchased Amberdata Inc. in June of this year. It previously acquired Cometh SAS, a Paris-based digital asset tool developer.

According to GN markets/crypto (en-US), the capital injection supports broader market expansion. The company aims to deepen its integration with institutional clients. The focus remains on providing precise and timely digital asset intelligence. The infrastructure upgrades will enhance data sharing capabilities. These moves position Kaiko to serve a wider range of financial institutions.
