S&P Global is acquiring OpenZeppelin to bolster its on-chain security and risk assessment capabilities, a move that integrates a platform securing over $250 billion in digital assets. The deal positions S&P Global to offer trusted infrastructure data for major stablecoins and DeFi protocols, with OpenZeppelin continuing to operate as an independent business unit under existing leadership.
New details from GN auto markets/crypto: digital asset reveal that OpenZeppelin’s audited smart contracts have processed $31.1 trillion in value and underpin nine of the top ten stablecoins by market cap. The announcement also confirms that CEO Demian Brener will continue leading the business as a distinct unit under S&P Global’s digital assets division.
