Diesel prices in Morocco increased by MAD 0.34 per liter starting today. Gasoline prices rose by MAD 0.27 per liter in the same adjustment. This marks the second price hike in two weeks. The previous revision in early September saw a smaller diesel rise of MAD 0.06. Gasoline prices had remained static during that earlier change.
Following these updates, diesel sells for approximately MAD 15.30 per liter in Casablanca. Gasoline exceeds MAD 15.20 per liter in the same market. Pump prices vary by distributor and location. The adjustments extend a series of changes recorded since July. Diesel fell by MAD 0.96 in early July before rising sharply in mid-July. Prices climbed by MAD 1.00 in early August and another MAD 0.65 in mid-August.
Gasoline Trends Differ From Diesel
Gasoline prices followed a different trajectory than diesel. The fuel rose by nearly MAD 0.40 in mid-July. It increased by about MAD 1.00 in early August. Prices then dropped by MAD 0.30 in mid-August. The fuel remained unchanged during the September 1 adjustment. On that date, diesel stood at MAD 15.01 per liter. Gasoline was priced at around MAD 14.94 per liter.
Global Oil Markets Remain Volatile
International oil markets show continued volatility. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East keep supply concerns high. Brent crude settled at $108.75 per barrel on September 15. This was the highest settlement since May 19. The price rose by $3.07, or 2.9%, on that day. Reuters reported attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure as a factor. Uncertainty over shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz also contributed.
Saudi Moves Ease Supply Worries
Oil prices eased on Wednesday after new announcements. Saudi Arabia offered additional crude shipments through Oman. This move helped reduce concerns over supply disruptions.
