Indian benchmarks opened higher on Friday, driven by global macro shifts and cooling energy costs.

The Nifty 50 index opened at 23,334.70 points. This level represents a gain of 56.80 points or 0.24 percent from the previous close. The benchmark broke the 23,300 threshold during early trade.

The Sensex opened at 74,575.24 points. The index traded around 74,485.71, up 171.12 points. All broad market indices traded in positive territory.

Sectoral Performance and Stock Movements

Nifty Realty led the sectoral rally with a 1.24 percent increase. Nifty IT acted as the primary drag, falling 1.40 percent. Nifty Midsmallcap IT and Telecom declined by 0.39 percent.

Eternal, IndiGo, and Bajaj Finance were among the top gainers. Infosys, Tata Steel, and HCL Tech were among the major losers. These moves reflected divergent sentiment across financial and technology stocks.

Global Macro Drivers and Commodity Prices

Brent crude traded at approximately 103 US dollars per barrel. WTI crude was near 101.15 US dollars. These lower energy prices helped reduce inflation concerns.

The Bank of Japan raised its policy rate to 1.25 percent. This is the highest level in 31 years. The US Federal Reserve had earlier increased rates by 25 basis points. Gold prices edged up to around 4,358.68 US dollars.

Analyst Outlook on Market Resistance

Analysts identify the 23,300 to 23,400 zone as immediate resistance for the Nifty. A sustained move above this range targets the 23,500 to 23,600 level. The 23,000 to 23,100 zone remains key support.

Strong primary market activity has depressed valuations in the secondary market. Investors are focusing on IPO gains rather than listed stocks. Analysts suggest opportunities in banks, capital goods, and pharma sectors. This assessment aligns with data from GN auto markets/indices: market indices.
