Vacaville High School dominated Tuesday’s dual matchup against Vanden. The Bulldogs swept the volleyball match and shut out the flag football team. Both victories extend their recent winning streaks in the Monticello Empire League.
The gym floor hummed with the sharp snap of leather against palm. Junior Addison Schnell moved like a piston, diving for every stray ball. She recorded 14 digs, 10 kills, and six aces. Her teammates Noelle Watkins and Emery Martinez set the rhythm with 13 and 11 assists.
Volleyball dominance defines the night
Vanden’s Kanani Hall fought hard with seven kills. Senior Trinity Rhodes and freshman Michaela Lindor added four blocks each. But the Bulldogs’ defense held firm. Vacaville improved to 14-8 overall and 4-0 in league play. Vanden fell to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in the league.
Flag football streak continues
On the turf, the Bulldogs extended their winning streak to six. They shut out Vanden 13-0. Two interceptions sealed the win. Sabrina Franks managed one interception for the Vikings. Vacaville now stands at 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the MEL.
Wood claims forfeit victory
Will C. Wood High School also moved forward. The Wildcats won their third straight game via forfeit from Sacramento. Their record improved to 8-5 overall and 4-1 in the league. They face Lodi in a non-league game on Thursday.
