Reddit's 6% stock jump on Thursday amplified into near 12% gains for its 2x leveraged ETFs, driven by CEO Steve Huffman's comments on user growth and Piper Sandler's revised ad forecasts.

Reddit Inc (NYSE:RDDT) shares climbed more than 6% on Thursday, a move that translated into nearly 12% gains for its leveraged exchange-traded funds. The Corgi RDDT 2x Daily ETF (BATS:RDDC) and GraniteShares 2x Long RDDT Daily ETF (NASDAQ:RDTL) both rose sharply as the underlying stock rallied. This performance highlights the direct correlation between Reddit’s equity movement and the daily returns of these specific financial products.

The catalyst for the rise was CEO Steve Huffman’s address at the Goldman Sachs 2026 Communacopia + Technology Conference. Huffman outlined the company’s strategic priorities for the coming year, emphasizing user acquisition and retention. The market reacted positively to these comments, which were interpreted as a signal of sustained engagement and advertising potential for the social media platform.

Leveraged Mechanics Amplify Daily Moves

The outsized gains in RDDC and RDTL are a mechanical result of their investment mandates. Both funds seek to deliver approximately two times the daily performance of Reddit stock, before fees and expenses. A 6% one-day increase in the underlying asset therefore corresponds to an approximate 12% move in these leveraged instruments. However, actual returns may diverge from this theoretical multiplier due to financing costs, fees, and the effects of daily compounding.

This leverage strategy introduces significant risk alongside potential upside. While a stock rally boosts these ETFs disproportionately, a 6% drop in Reddit shares could trigger a roughly 12% single-day loss for the leveraged funds. The 52-week price ranges reflect this volatility, with RDDC trading between $10.13 and $25.65, and RDTL ranging from $10.89 to $89.84 over the past year. Investors using these products are effectively betting on short-term momentum without directly trading options.

Growth Metrics Support Bullish Sentiment

Huffman stated that Reddit’s focus for the next 12 to 18 months will remain on user growth and new-user retention. The platform has logged several hundred thousand daily unattributed app downloads, indicating strong organic engagement. In the most recent quarter, users generated one billion posts and comments, which accounts for approximately 4% of Reddit’s total content corpus. These figures suggest a healthy base of active users, a key driver for the company’s advertising revenue.

Piper Sandler reinforced the positive outlook by raising its third-quarter digital advertising growth estimate and its Reddit ad-spending forecast by 30 basis points. According to Guru Focus, the brokerage also noted that August ad spending beat expectations by 60 basis points. This upward revision in analyst estimates provides fundamental support for the stock’s rally, linking user engagement directly to improved ad revenue projections.

Measurement Changes Alter Audience Data

One complication in Reddit’s outlook involves a recent change in how audience size is measured. Piper Sandler expects September audience-size estimates to drop by approximately 20% due to an Ads Manager methodology update. The brokerage characterized this as a one-time measurement reset rather than a sign of weakening user activity. This technical adjustment does not impact ad auctions, optimization, or delivery mechanisms.

Despite the apparent drop in reported audience numbers, the underlying business metrics remain strong. The distinction between a methodology change and actual user churn is critical for interpreting Reddit’s financial health. For leveraged ETFs like RDDC and RDTL, the setup offers high potential returns if Reddit’s core advertising momentum holds. Conversely, any reversal in stock performance would be amplified, creating a high-risk profile for holders of these funds. The source GN stocks/shares-surge noted the significant swing in these instruments.
