Deepa Jewellers opened 25% above its issue price, reflecting strong demand for its B2B gold supply model and a 158% surge in net profit.

Deepa Jewellers debuted on the Indian stock exchanges at a 25% premium to its issue price, signaling strong investor confidence in the Hyderabad-based business. The shares opened at Rs 221 on the NSE and Rs 221.05 on the BSE, compared to the IPO price of Rs 177. This listing reflects robust appetite for organized B2B jewellery suppliers amid a market increasingly focused on supply chain consolidation.

The company’s Rs 459.72-crore public offering was subscribed 42.61 times, with the non-institutional segment showing the highest demand at 105.96 times. Retail investors subscribed 18.55 times, while qualified institutional buyers participated at 37 times. The strong subscription indicates that both institutional and retail sectors view the company’s position in the South Indian gold market as a stable growth opportunity.

Capital Allocation Supports Inventory Scaling

The IPO included a Rs 250-crore fresh issue and a Rs 209.72-crore offer for sale. Of the new capital raised, Rs 215 crore is specifically earmarked for long-term working capital requirements. This funding will be used to procure, maintain, and scale the company’s jewellery inventory, directly supporting its ability to meet growing demand from retail chains and standalone jewellers across the region.

Profit Growth Outpaces Revenue Expansion

Deepa Jewellers reported significant financial improvement in the latest fiscal year, with revenue rising to Rs 1,926.68 crore from Rs 1,397.01 crore in the previous year. More notably, profit after tax surged 158% to reach Rs 104.79 crore. This margin expansion suggests improved operational efficiency or favorable pricing dynamics in the 22-carat hallmarked gold segment, which forms the core of the company’s B2B service model.

Market Position in South India

As a designer, processor, and supplier of 22-carat gold jewellery, Deepa Jewellers serves a specialized niche in the South Indian market. The company’s strong financial performance and high subscription levels, as reported by GN stocks/ipo, highlight its importance in the organized supply chain. Investors appear to be valuing the company’s ability to scale inventory and maintain profitability while serving a broad base of retail partners.
