Bechtel Exits TerraPower Natrium Nuclear Project in Wyoming
Bechtel is exiting the Natrium project in Wyoming due to a failed agreement on next-phase terms, triggering a WARN notice for approximately 200 potential job cuts. Despite the split, TerraPower maintains that construction will proceed on schedule for a 2031 commercial launch, with Hyundai Engineering & Construction positioned as a key contractor for future units.
American Nuclear Society reports that Bechtel filed a WARN notice indicating potential layoffs of up to 200 staff, with cuts expected by mid-November. The company is aiming to mitigate these reductions by reassigning employees to other nuclear projects while it remains on-site to finish the sodium test facility.
