New US sanctions on Russian energy imports have increased the strategic value of domestic baseload power, highlighting three key nuclear equities.

The United States has enacted sanctions that permit tariffs of up to 100% on major buyers of Russian oil and gas. This policy shift creates immediate pressure on fuel supply certainty for large industrial consumers. In this environment, reliable, carbon-free baseload power becomes a critical asset for maintaining grid stability and meeting decarbonization targets.

A recent screen by GN auto stocks/utilities: power plant identified three listed companies positioned to benefit from this shift. These firms span the nuclear value chain, from small modular reactor design to large-scale fleet operations and specialized equipment manufacturing. Their combined market capitalizations reflect the growing institutional interest in secure energy infrastructure.

NuScale Power Targets Modular Grid Integration

NuScale Power, with a market capitalization of US$3.9 billion, focuses on small modular light water reactors. The company currently generates approximately US$11 million in revenue, primarily from US utility activities. Its business model extends beyond hardware design to include licensing, operation, and maintenance services.

A key driver for future cash flow is its partnership in the RoPower six-module plant in Romania. NuScale is involved in the Fluor-led Front-End Engineering and Design Phase 2. This project represents a transition from development to commercial execution, though it remains subject to customer commitment risks and capital needs.

Constellation Energy Secures Long-Term Contracts

Constellation Energy operates a large nuclear fleet with a market cap of US$90.2 billion. Its Generation segment produced US$31.3 billion in revenue, supplying power to regions including the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and New York. The company serves utilities, businesses, and public entities with carbon-free electricity.

Demand from large-scale customers such as Meta, Microsoft, and Comcast is reshaping the company’s revenue profile. These clients are seeking long-term, higher-margin contracts with price premiums to support digitalization and electrification goals. This shift in contract structure enhances pricing power and provides greater visibility into future earnings.

GE Vernova Supplies Critical Plant Equipment

GE Vernova holds a market capitalization of US$246.3 billion and supplies nuclear steam turbines and grid solutions. Its Power segment generated US$21.0 billion in revenue, while Electrification and Wind segments contributed US$12.2 billion and US$8.5 billion respectively.

The company’s role is central to maintaining existing baseload units, providing the equipment and services required for decades of operation. As utilities prioritize reliability in the face of supply chain disruptions, GE Vernova’s equipment becomes a necessary component of the energy infrastructure. This positions the firm to benefit from sustained maintenance and upgrade cycles.
