Blackstone leverages a surge in corporate earnings to drive $260 billion in annual inflows, focusing on AI data centers and energy infrastructure while targeting double-digit fee growth by 2027.

Blackstone Inc. is capitalizing on a broader corporate earnings boom to accelerate its expansion in artificial intelligence and infrastructure. The asset manager reported attracting over $260 billion in net inflows during the trailing 12 months, marking a 24% increase year over year and its strongest fundraising period in nearly four years. This surge in capital deployment reflects strong demand across institutional, insurance, and individual investor channels, with individual-investor assets reaching $324 billion.

CFO Michael Chae identified a favorable macroeconomic backdrop as the primary driver for this growth, citing the fastest S&P 500 earnings growth in five years during the second quarter. He noted that 2026 is projected to be the strongest year for S&P earnings growth in 25 years, excluding post-crisis rebound periods. Blackstone is positioning itself to benefit from this environment by focusing on sectors where companies are beginning to capture AI-related productivity gains, such as power generation and electrification.

Infrastructure and AI Drive Asset Growth

The firm’s infrastructure assets under management increased by 40% year over year to reach $90 billion. Blackstone is strategically targeting data centers, power infrastructure, and frontier AI applications as central investment priorities. To execute this strategy, the company has established partnerships with major technology firms including Google, Anthropic, Broadcom, and NVIDIA to develop AI-related platforms and financing structures.

Chae emphasized that 70% of the firm’s largest investments over the past 12 months have been allocated to these high-growth sectors, including life sciences and private credit. He argued that the scale of Blackstone’s platform allows it to deploy capital more effectively in markets requiring significant funding for growth, differentiating the firm from narrower-focused competitors. This diversification supports the firm’s goal of expanding margins, which have increased by an average of 700 basis points across portfolio companies over the last four decades.

IPO Activity and Exit Strategies

While traditional private equity realizations remain constrained, Blackstone has leveraged its exposure to high-quality companies to maintain liquidity. The firm completed nine initial public offerings in the past year, with five occurring since May. Approximately one-third of its corporate private equity net accrued performance receivable is now publicly traded, providing a more direct route for value realization compared to private transactions.

The energy private equity segment saw its net accrued performance receivable double to over $1 billion, driven by investments in power and electrical equipment. With six additional IPOs currently on file globally, Blackstone is preparing to capitalize on a potentially more favorable exit environment. This approach allows the firm to manage liquidity risks while maintaining a focus on long-term value creation in high-growth infrastructure assets.

Fee Growth Targets and Future Outlook

Looking ahead, Blackstone expects renewed earnings momentum supported by new fund launches and the expansion of its private wealth division. Chae reiterated the company’s target for double-digit base management fee growth by 2027. This growth is expected to be driven by the deployment of perpetual capital vehicles and the continued expansion of its individual investor base, which has become a significant source of new capital.

The firm believes that the current investment cycle remains below the scale of prior booms as a percentage of gross domestic product, suggesting further room for expansion. By aligning its investment strategy with the structural shift toward digital and energy infrastructure, Blackstone aims to sustain its fundraising momentum. According to GN markets/earnings (en-US), this strategy positions the company to benefit from sustained corporate profit growth and increased demand for capital in critical infrastructure sectors.
