Compagnie de l'Odet posted a significant drop in net income for the first half of 2026, despite an 8% rise in revenue driven by energy prices.

Compagnie de l'Odet reported first-half 2026 revenue of 1.644 billion euros, up 8% at constant scope and exchange rates. However, consolidated net income fell to 96 million euros from 257 million euros in the same period last year. The group's share of net income dropped to 54 million euros, compared with 163 million euros in the first half of 2025, according to data reported by GN markets/earnings (en-US).

The decline in profitability was driven by lower contributions from the communications sector and increased personnel costs in the 'Other' segment. Adjusted operating income (EBITA) decreased by 20% to 97 million euros. Net financial income also halved to 45 million euros due to lower interest rates and reduced dividends from Socfin Group.

Energy Prices Offset Volume Losses

Bolloré Energy generated 1.467 billion euros in revenue, a 9% increase, as rising prices linked to the Middle East conflict outweighed a 10% drop in volumes sold. EBITA for this segment rose 77% to 47 million euros, supported by positive stock effects and strong distribution performance in France and Germany. This growth was the primary driver of the top-line expansion for the group.

Communication And Industry Segments Lag

The Communications sector saw EBITA fall, primarily due to lower contributions from Groupe Canal+ and UMG. Industry revenue remained stable at 156 million euros, with growth in Films and Systems activities offsetting declines in Blue activities. EBITA for Industry improved by 10 million euros to a loss of 42 million euros, as Blue Solutions focused on new-generation battery research.

Balance Sheet And Shareholder Returns

The Board approved an exceptional interim dividend of 380 euros per share. Group shareholders' equity stood at 13.269 billion euros as of June 30, 2026, up from 12.793 billion euros at the end of 2025. Net cash decreased to 3.658 billion euros, reflecting 1.19 billion euros in dividends to minority shareholders and 253 million euros in minority interest acquisitions.
