Tel Aviv Stock Exchange shares jumped nearly 16% after announcing a plan targeting double-digit annual growth, while broader market indices posted moderate gains.

Tel Aviv Stock Exchange shares closed with a 14.98% gain on Thursday, the most significant single-stock move in the market. The rally followed the release of a strategic plan outlining expectations for 15% to 18% annual growth between 2027 and 2031. The company also reported that it had exceeded its internal growth targets in recent years, a performance metric that appeared to drive investor confidence.

The broader Tel Aviv market also ended higher, with the TA-35 index rising 1.02% to 4,289.98 points. The TA-125 index added 0.95% to reach 416.35 points, while the BlueTech Global Index climbed 0.98% to 623.34. Trading volume in equities reached NIS 6.73 billion, and bond turnover totaled NIS 6.03 billion, indicating active participation across asset classes.

Sector Performance Diverges

Sector-specific movements showed a clear split between growth-oriented industries and traditional financial services. The Energy Utilities index led all sectors with a 3.05% increase, followed by the Technology index at 2.71% and the Cleantech index at 2.42%. Insurance and Financial Services also gained 2.32%, suggesting a broad rotation into non-banking financial and utility names.

Conversely, the Banking index declined by 1.37%, marking the only major sector to close in negative territory. This underperformance was mirrored in individual bank stocks, which saw widespread losses despite the overall market rally.

Major Banks Post Losses

Bank Hapoalim shares dropped 1.89%, while Bank Leumi fell 1.72%. Mizrahi Tefahot Bank experienced a smaller decline of 0.33%. These moves contrasted sharply with the performance of several technology and energy firms. Tower Semiconductor rose 3.60%, and Nice gained 5.99%.

Other notable advancers included Mega Or, up 5.62%, and Camtek, up 5.52%. Nofar Energy also posted a strong gain of 4.87%. On the losing side, Rimon fell 4.90%, Formula dropped 4.44%, and Israel Corp. declined 4.06%. The divergence suggests investors are selectively favoring companies with clear growth narratives over traditional value plays.

Currency Rates Remain Stable

The foreign exchange market showed minor fluctuations during the session. The representative shekel-US dollar rate was set 0.16% higher at NIS 3.0380 per dollar. The shekel-euro rate moved 0.4% lower, settling at NIS 3.4853 per euro. These modest changes reflect a stable macroeconomic backdrop for the trading day.
