GE Aerospace has clarified that its $11.75 billion acquisition of Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) should not be interpreted as a shift toward broad vertical integration. Chief Financial Officer Rahul Ghai stated on Thursday that while the deal is critical for securing precision-cast metal parts, it represents a unique strategic move rather than a template for absorbing every component in the supply chain. The company aims to enhance CPP’s delivery performance and accelerate the rollout of new airfoil technologies, but explicitly rejected the notion of integrating all value stream segments.

Airlines Adopt Deliberate Fleet Strategies

Post-pandemic market experiences have influenced airline behavior, leading to more deliberate decision-making regarding fleet composition. Operators are now more cautious about quickly cutting capacity, recognizing the challenges in maintaining market share and operational continuity. In terms of engine retirement, GE Aerospace expects the rate for aircraft powered by older-generation CFM56 engines to fall between 1.5% and 2% this year.
