AuKing Authorizes 1,000m Drill Program at Malawi Site

AuKing Mining advances the Tundulu project in Malawi with a deep diamond drill test following initial RC results.
AuKing Mining Ltd has approved a 1,000-meter diamond drill hole at its Tundulu Rare Earths Project in southern Malawi. The Australian-listed explorer is moving to test carbonatite-hosted mineralization at greater depth after its maiden reverse circulation and initial diamond holes intersected target lithologies to more than 500 meters. This marks the first systematic large-scale exploration of the site, aiming to define the resource potential of an asset located near the Kangankunde and Songwe Hill projects.
The decision follows assay results from the initial exploration program, which confirmed the presence of carbonatite lithologies. With a current market capitalization of A$35.63 million and an average trading volume of over 9 million shares, the company is leveraging its funding position to transition Tundulu from an underexplored prospect to a defined resource. The move positions AuKing within a growing cluster of rare earth developments in the region, as reported by GN auto stocks materials.
Initial Drilling Confirms Deep Lithology
The company’s maiden reverse circulation program and initial diamond holes successfully intersected carbonatite lithologies to depths exceeding 500 meters. These initial assays provided the technical basis for the board’s approval of the deeper diamond drill test. By targeting the mineralized system at greater depth, AuKing seeks to validate the vertical extent of the rare earth mineralization, a critical step for resource modeling in carbonatite-hosted deposits.
Strategic Positioning In Regional Cluster
Tundulu is situated in a geographic cluster that includes the Kangankunde and Songwe Hill projects, two significant rare earth developments in Malawi. AuKing’s strategy is to establish Tundulu as a major new asset by leveraging the regional infrastructure and market interest generated by these neighboring projects. The company’s strong funding position supports its ability to execute this systematic exploration phase, differentiating it from earlier, less defined exploration efforts in the area.
The transition from initial exploration to resource definition is central to AuKing’s growth prospects. While the technical sentiment signal for AKN is currently rated as a strong sell, the company’s operational focus remains on proving the scale of the Tundulu system. Success in the 1,000-meter drill test could reshape the asset’s valuation and solidify its place in the global rare earth supply chain.
