Eclipse Metals Limited has confirmed a 17-hole diamond drilling program at its Ivigtut-Gronnedal project in South Greenland. The initiative targets the expansion of the mineral resource, specifically aiming to upgrade portions of the Inferred category to the higher-confidence Indicated status.
The company recently expanded the Gronnedal Mineral Resource from 89 million tonnes to 208 million tonnes at 0.72% Total Rare Earth Oxides. This new drilling campaign is designed to solidify geological confidence in selected areas while testing mineralization beyond current resource limits.
Drilling program targets resource upgrades
According to ABN Newswire, the program comprises 2,355 metres of drilling with individual hole depths ranging from 65 to 200 metres. Operations are scheduled to commence in October 2026, subject to final mobilization and regulatory approvals.
The strategy involves two distinct components: infill drilling to test grade continuity within the 202 million tonne Inferred inventory, and step-out drilling to identify extensions beyond existing limits. Converting these resources to the Indicated category will provide a stronger basis for mine planning and economic evaluations.
Resource contains 1.505 Mt TREO
The current Mineral Resource occupies an area of approximately 500 metres by 400 metres within a larger carbonatite complex. The system contains an estimated 1.505 million tonnes of TREO, including 456,000 tonnes of contained Nd2O3 and Pr2O3.
Mineralization remains open along strike and at depth, with the wider system mapped over 5 kilometres east-west. The project also reports the presence of dysprosium and terbium oxides, elements critical for high-performance permanent magnets in advanced manufacturing and defense systems.

The Ivigtut-Gronnedal project benefits from proximity to deep-water port access and existing infrastructure in the historic Ivigtut mining district.
