Hemlo Mining adopts a district-scale porphyry framework to target 45,000 hectares of land, focusing on Beggs and Wire areas.

Key points

  • Hemlo Mining applies a new porphyry model to its 45,000-hectare land package to find district-scale gold systems.
  • The Beggs Area shows over 120 surface samples above 1.0 g/t Au, with historical drilling hitting 133.2 g/t over 2.0 m.
  • Field work starts in September 2026, with regional geophysics planned for late 2026 and drilling targeted for 2027.

Hemlo Mining Corp. has redefined its exploration strategy across its 45,000-hectare land package by adopting a refined porphyry-epithermal gold-molybdenum model. This shift reinterprets the existing Hemlo deposit as part of a larger Archean system, prompting the company to reassess regional properties for similar mineralized clusters.

The new framework is based on a comprehensive re-examination involving independent geologists, including Dr. Richard Sillitoe and Dr. Ruben Padilla. Their analysis identifies the Moose Lake porphyry, associated with the 25-million-ounce Hemlo deposit, as a blueprint for locating additional systems within the company's holdings.

Pic Property hosts high-priority porphyry targets

The Pic Property, located 25 kilometers northwest of the mine, contains two key areas exhibiting geological signatures similar to the main deposit. The Beggs Area features a 3.5-by-1.5-kilometer alkaline porphyritic intrusive center dated to approximately 2,690 million years ago, which is broadly coeval with the Moose Lake porphyry.

Historical sampling at Beggs recorded more than 120 surface samples exceeding 1.0 grams per tonne gold, with peak values of 109.0 grams per tonne within the intrusion. The nearby Super G Zone yielded 734.0 grams per tonne gold in surface samples, while historical drilling intersected 133.2 grams per tonne over 2.0 meters.

The Wire Area, a 3-kilometer-long gold corridor, shows evidence of mineralized porphyry dykes and potassic alteration. Limited historical drilling in this underexplored zone returned 2.6 grams per tonne gold over 18.7 meters, indicating potential for deeper testing that has not yet been conducted.

Near-mine extensions and northern corridors

Within the 10,000-hectare Hemlo Mine Property, porphyry dykes have been mapped at surface 3 to 4 kilometers west of the current mineralized system. This area offers a near-mine opportunity to evaluate the potential western continuation of the deposit, leveraging existing infrastructure and geological understanding.

The Hemlo North Property covers an additional 12,000 hectares of regional corridors. These areas are currently being reassessed under the new geological framework to identify prospective zones that align with the evolving porphyry model identified by the exploration team.

Exploration timeline accelerates toward 2027 drilling

Field work at the Pic Property is scheduled to begin in September 2026, following summer mapping activities at the Hemlo North Property. The company plans to conduct regional airborne geophysics in late 2026 to refine targets before initiating drilling campaigns in 2027.

CEO Jason Kosec stated that the geological similarities at Beggs and Wire are compelling, noting that both areas remain relatively underexplored. The company intends to advance these opportunities methodically toward drill testing, applying the rigorous geological work demonstrated in the 2026 exploration season.
