Lindian Resources Stockpiles 125,000 Tonnes at Kangankunde Mine

Lindian Resources holds 125,000 tonnes of ore in Malawi. First monazite concentrate production is targeted by late 2026.
Key points
- Lindian Resources has stockpiled 125,000 tonnes of ore at Kangankunde in Malawi.
- First monazite concentrate production is targeted for the end of 2026.
- The construction workforce at the site has grown to more than 3,000 people.
Lindian Resources has stockpiled 125,000 tonnes of ore. This occurred at the Kangankunde project in Malawi. The company reports this on September 24, 2026. The stockpile places feedstock ahead of schedule.
Mining operations are now fully established. The Stage 1 pit is open. Fourteen production blasts are complete. These actions support first monazite concentrate production by year-end.
Plant construction shifts to commissioning
Processing plant construction continues around the clock. Work is shifting to mechanical installation and piping. Civil works around the SAG mill are nearly done. Thickener installation is also complete.
Bulk earthworks at the tailings facility are finished. Only toe dam lining and piping remain. The 33-kilovolt powerline is complete. Transformer installation is planned for October.
Power energisation will allow motor testing. It also enables control-system commissioning. Executive director Zac Komur said the project is moving from construction to operations.
Government visit confirms local workforce
Malawi’s Minister of Mining visited the site on September 23. He inspected the processing plant and mining areas. He initiated the project’s 14th production blast. Senior government representatives joined him.
The construction workforce now exceeds 3,000 people. Most are Malawian nationals. Over 85% of Lindian's direct workforce is Malawian. The Tipume camp now holds 130 personnel.
Strategy links upstream and downstream assets
Kangankunde is the upstream cornerstone of the strategy. Lindian acquired the SARECO facility in Kazakhstan. This provides a downstream route for the concentrate. An offtake agreement with Iluka Resources also exists.
A Stage 2 feasibility study is underway. It aims to increase production capacity. Executive base salaries rose to A$1 million each. This change is effective from July 1, 2026.
