Seoul Stocks Rally 1.65% as Samsung Electronics Climbs 5%

KOSPI extended its three-day winning streak with a 1.65% gain driven by Samsung Electronics and institutional buying, despite geopolitical tensions keeping oil prices above $100. Yields on Korean government bonds ticked higher while the won appreciated against the dollar.
Yonhap News Agency reports that Korean government bond yields rose in tandem with the equity rally, with the five-year benchmark yield climbing five basis points to 4.275 percent. The agency also notes that the Korean won strengthened against the U.S. dollar, closing at 1,381 won per dollar.
