US Equipment Makers Benefit from HBM Expansion

Reports of domestic memory production have shifted focus to three US firms supplying critical testing and cleaning infrastructure for high-bandwidth memory.
Recent reports indicating that Intel and SK Hynix are exploring US-based memory production have intensified focus on the supply chain for high-bandwidth memory. This development places advanced manufacturing equipment at the center of the semiconductor narrative, specifically benefiting companies that provide the essential tools for wafer processing and testing. The market is now closely monitoring firms that supply the physical infrastructure required to produce these complex chips, as the shift toward domestic production creates immediate demand for specialized capital goods.
According to GN stocks/chips, three US-listed companies stand out for their direct exposure to this trend. These firms do not manufacture the memory chips themselves but provide the critical equipment for cleaning, plating, and testing the devices. Their revenue streams are increasingly tied to the scaling of high-bandwidth memory and advanced DRAM, making them key beneficiaries of the current industrial buildout.
ACM Research Targets Wafer Processing
ACM Research supplies semiconductor capital equipment for wafer cleaning, electroplating, and advanced packaging. The company generated approximately US$1.04 billion in semiconductor equipment and services revenue, supporting a market capitalization of around US$4.66 billion. Its proprietary tools, including N2 bubbling and SPM systems, are integral to the fabrication of high-bandwidth memory and three-dimensional NAND. As foundries invest in more complex manufacturing nodes, ACM’s position in the cleaning and plating stages becomes a critical determinant of yield and efficiency in modern chip factories.
FormFactor Dominates Wafer Stage Testing
FormFactor provides test equipment for advanced chips such as high-bandwidth memory and NAND at the wafer stage. The business recorded about US$747 million in revenue from probe cards and US$155 million from systems, contributing to a market value of roughly US$8.0 billion. The company holds an early leadership position in high-bandwidth memory chiplet testing, which is essential for the complex verification required by AI data centers. This specialization allows FormFactor to capture higher average selling prices as the complexity and intensity of testing for high-performance computing applications increase.
Teradyne Integrates Memory Test Systems
Teradyne designs automated test systems for semiconductors and memory, utilizing its Magnum platform for DRAM and flash verification. The company’s semiconductor test division generated approximately US$3.72 billion in revenue, forming a significant portion of its US$51.5 billion market capitalization. While Teradyne also operates a substantial robotics business, its semiconductor test equipment is directly linked to the quality control required for advanced memory production. The integration of these high-performance testers into the manufacturing pipeline ensures that only compliant memory chips reach the market, supporting the reliability demands of the expanding high-bandwidth memory ecosystem.
