The financing was led by Lightspeed, with co-leadership from Wellington Management, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, and Tiger Global. Existing investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and Index Ventures participated in the deal, signaling continued institutional confidence in the company’s infrastructure model.
The capital infusion supports Temporal’s core product, a software layer that enables complex computing tasks to resume automatically after failures. Instead of forcing applications to restart from the beginning, the platform records application state as work progresses. Abbas brings extensive experience in distributed systems, having previously worked on foundational engineering teams at Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
At Uber, Abbas co-created Cadence, an open-source microservices orchestration engine that served as the architectural predecessor to Temporal.
