S&P 500 Movers: Generac and Moderna Lead Weekly Gains

Generac and Moderna top recent S&P 500 performance lists, while T-Mobile and DaVita face significant sell-offs.
The S&P 500 index rose 1.1% on Thursday, driven by sharp gains in hardware and biotechnology names. According to data from GN stocks/sp500, Generac Holdings (GNRC) led the daily pack with an 18.3% increase, while Moderna (MRNA) added 8.5% to its share price. These moves continued a broader trend of strength in these sectors over the past month.
On the downside, T-Mobile US (TMUS) and DaVita (DVA) both fell 5.6%, marking the steepest losses among index constituents. This divergence highlights a split in market sentiment, where capital rotated into select growth and infrastructure plays while exiting telecommunications and healthcare services firms.
Generac Leads Daily Gainers
Generac’s 18.3% daily jump pushed its year-to-date return to 52.0%. The company’s revenue grew 0.6% over the trailing twelve months, a modest figure compared to its valuation. The stock trades at 47.2 times trailing earnings, a multiple that includes at least one loss quarter, making it less comparable to clean-year peers. Despite the low revenue growth, the stock outperformed the index significantly.
Super Micro Computer (SMCI) followed Generac with a 9.5% gain, extending its year-to-date rise to 37.9%. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) gained 8.0%, bringing its YTD return to 157.1%, while Intel (INTC) added 7.7% to a 194.9% year-to-date increase. These hardware-focused names dominated the top of the daily gainers list.
Moderna Sustains Monthly Momentum
Moderna stands out as a persistent winner, appearing on both the daily and monthly leaderboards. Its one-month return reached 151.1%, and even excluding Thursday’s session, the stock had gained 131.3%. This persistence suggests a sustained trend rather than a one-off event. The company’s YTD return now stands at 436.0%, far ahead of most peers.
Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) also showed strong monthly performance, gaining 35.4% over 21 trading days to reach a 47.0% YTD return. Dell Technologies (DELL) added 25.6% this month, contributing to a 371.7% year-to-date gain. These results indicate that technology and biotech sectors are driving much of the index’s recent upward movement.
T-Mobile and DaVita Lag
T-Mobile US fell 5.6% on Thursday, deepening its year-to-date loss to 16.7%. This decline contrasts with its fundamental performance, as the company’s revenue grew 9.7% over the last twelve months. The share price drop suggests investors are reassessing the company’s valuation or outlook despite top-line growth.
DaVita (DVA) also dropped 5.6%, though it remains up 61.2% for the year. Other laggards included Paramount Skydance (PSKY) at -4.6% and Copart (CPRT) at -3.8%. Over the last week, JB Hunt Transport Services (JBHT) led the losses with an 11.6% decline, while Lam Research (LRCX) fell 9.6%.
