Asgard's Fall Launches on Steam with New Content

The Norse mythology-inspired roguelite is now available for purchase, marking the end of its early access period.
Asgard's Fall has officially launched on Steam, moving from its Early Access phase to a full release. Developed by Assemble Entertainment and published by Sidekick Publishing, the game is a survivors-style action title that draws heavily on Norse mythology. The developers announced the launch date as September 9, 2026, following a period of testing and community feedback.
The game centers on high-intensity combat against large groups of enemies. Players control one of four distinct characters, each with unique abilities and playstyles. The core loop involves surviving waves of foes across nine different realms while facing off against various bosses. According to GN technics/gaming, the release includes significant new content that was not available during the demo phase.
New characters and bosses added
The full release introduces a new playable character known as the Druid. This addition expands the roster of options for players looking to tailor their combat approach. Alongside the new hero, the game features a new boss encounter in Helheim, a realm associated with the goddess Hel. This adds a fresh challenge for players who have already completed the previous content.
Developers have also updated the final area, Asgard, with a dual boss fight involving Loki and Odin. This encounter is designed to be more epic and challenging than previous versions. The inclusion of these new elements aims to extend the replayability of the game by offering fresh obstacles and strategic requirements.
Expanded ability customization system
A major part of the game's design is its build creation system. Players can discover and master 37 different abilities. These abilities can be modified through a system called Ability Fates, which includes 74 unique modifiers. Each ability has two specific modifiers that can drastically change how it functions in combat.
Beyond individual abilities, the game includes 36 general modifiers known as Knots of Fate. These provide broader effects that influence the entire run. Players can also unlock 8 Forged Abilities, which offer powerful new tools. The combination of these systems allows for a wide variety of strategies, though mastering them requires significant time and experimentation.
Visual customization and achievements
The launch version adds cosmetic options for players who wish to personalize their experience. There are 24 unique Warpaint effects available for customization, along with 20 Warpaint Ascendancy effects that unlock greater potential. Weapon cosmetics also allow players to change the visual appearance of their hero's gear without affecting gameplay stats.
New achievements have been added to provide additional challenges for completionists. These achievements offer extra goals for players aiming for 100% completion of the game. While these features do not change the core mechanics, they provide additional layers of progression and reward for dedicated players.
