HP has reduced the price of its HyperX Omen Max 16 gaming laptop by $1,000, bringing the cost down to $3,699.99. This discount applies to a machine equipped with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 mobile graphics card, currently the most powerful GPU available in a laptop form factor. According to reporting from GN technics/gaming, this price adjustment addresses earlier criticism that the initial launch price was too high compared to competing systems.
The deal positions the laptop as a viable alternative to building a high-end desktop PC. A desktop version of the RTX 5090 alone costs at least $5,899, meaning the entire laptop system is now significantly cheaper than just the graphics card for a stationary setup. However, buyers should note that the mobile version of the chip operates at a much lower power limit than its desktop counterpart, trading some raw power for portability.

The laptop features a 16-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2,500 by 1,600 pixels and a refresh rate of 240Hz.
