Samsung S27 Leaks Show Mixed RAM Upgrades and New Storage Tiers

Samsung is reportedly splitting its upcoming Galaxy S27 lineup by memory speed. New leaks from GSMArena indicate that only the S27 Pro and Ultra may receive the latest LPDDR6 RAM. The standard S27 and S27+ models are expected to stick with the older LPDDR5X standard.

This decision creates a noticeable gap between the flagship and mid-range devices in the series. While the top models aim for peak performance, the lower-tier phones will lack the fastest data transfer speeds. The base storage capacity is also rising, with all models starting at 256GB.

Memory speed varies across the lineup

LPDDR6 is the newest standard for smartphone memory. It moves data faster than the previous LPDDR5X version. This speed helps the phone load apps and process tasks more quickly. However, the leak suggests this upgrade is not universal.

The S27 and S27+ will likely use the older LPDDR5X chip. The S27 Pro and Ultra are targeted for LPDDR6. There is a catch, though. The leak implies only higher storage tiers might get the new memory. The 12GB base models in the Pro and Ultra lines might still use the slower standard.

Storage options and base capacity

All four phones are rumored to start with 256GB of storage. This is a change for the standard S27, which previously started lower. The S27 Ultra and Pro will offer a 1TB option. The S27 and S27+ will top out at 512GB.

The S27 Pro’s 1TB version is listed with only 12GB of RAM. This is unusual because the Ultra’s 1TB version gets 16GB. The Pro is a smaller phone, but this RAM difference remains unexplained in the leak. Users should note that these specs are not officially confirmed.

Battery and charging details are known

Certification data in China reveals the battery sizes for the top models. The Galaxy S27 Pro is listed with a 5,200 mAh battery. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is listed with a 5,700 mAh battery. Both phones are expected to support 60W wired charging.
