vivo X Fold6 global release imminent as prototype benchmarks surface

The wait for the global version of the vivo X Fold6 appears to be ending soon. While the device launched in China back in June, international availability has been slow to materialize. Recent evidence suggests a change is imminent, as a prototype unit has appeared in benchmark testing sites, signaling that the hardware is finalized for export.

GSMArena reported that a user with access to a global prototype, identified by the model number V2559, ran performance tests earlier this week. The results confirm the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super System on a Chip, the same processor found in the Chinese version. This validation provides clarity on the core hardware capabilities before the official announcement.

Performance benchmarks reveal core hardware

The prototype achieved a single-core score of 1,710 and a multi-core score of 5,977 in Geekbench 7.0.0 for Android. These figures align with expectations for the Dimensity 9500, positioning the phone as a high-performance option in the foldable category. However, it is important to note that these results come from an early engineering sample. Final retail units may exhibit slight variations in speed due to software optimizations and thermal management adjustments made during the final production phase.

The tested unit was equipped with 12GB of RAM, but this does not necessarily dictate the final memory options available to consumers. Manufacturers often release multiple tiers of storage and memory to cater to different market segments. The benchmark confirms the chipset but leaves the specific memory configurations open until vivo makes its official global specifications public.

Software differences between regions

One significant distinction lies in the operating system. The Chinese model shipped with Android 16, whereas the global prototype is confirmed to run on Android 17 from day one. This version difference ensures that international users will have access to the latest security patches and features immediately upon purchase. Vivo plans to overlay its upcoming OriginOS 7 interface on this base, providing a unified user experience across its global foldable lineup.

Display and camera specifications remain

The hardware design is expected to mirror the successful Chinese release. The device features an 8.02-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, paired with a 6.51-inch cover screen of similar quality. On the photography front, the phone includes a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens for zoom capabilities. The battery capacity is listed at 7,000 mAh, supporting 80W wired and 40W wireless charging, offering substantial endurance for heavy users.
