Audio focus solves privacy complaints
Critics previously called older models "pervert glasses" due to non-consensual recording. Meta tried to fix this by disabling cameras if the recording light was tampered with. However, public discomfort with being filmed remained high.
By removing the camera entirely, the new device avoids this stigma. It offers a cleaner user experience for listeners. TechCrunch reported that this shift may help Meta recover its reputation. It also positions the product as a direct competitor to Apple’s Siri-powered AirPods.
Lightweight design supports long listening
Without camera hardware, the frames are slimmer than other Meta models. The device weighs only 43 grams. This makes it comfortable for extended wear during work or leisure.
Battery life lasts up to 12 hours on a single charge. With the included charging case, total usage extends to 48 hours. The glasses also feature adjustable temple tips and swappable nose pads for a better fit.
New styles and AI assistant access
Customers can choose from 23 color and lens combinations. Two new styles are available: a retro "Clubmaster" and a classic "Burbank" rectangle. Optical prescriptions are supported for those who need them.
All models include access to Meta’s Muse AI assistant. This allows users to translate speech and ask questions hands-free. Meta also teased future updates, including a feature called private processing to protect user data.
