Punjab police have detained a young man with permanent Canadian residency, alleging he was attempting to transport explosives into the Indian state. The arrest, carried out by the State Special Operations Cell near Nehru Stadium in Faridkot, marks a significant escalation in counter-terrorism activities in the border region. Authorities claim the individual had returned to India just five days prior to his apprehension.

According to the FIR registered at the SSOC police station in Fazilka, the suspect is alleged to have links with Pakistan-based terror modules and anti-national elements active across the border. According to the father, the two went to Sadiq Chowk to collect the package, where police apprehended them. He claims he was released later that night, while his son was taken into custody, and has demanded justice in the matter.
