Ukraine Reports Six Dead in Drone Strikes Hitting Mall and Schools

Russian military strikes across Ukraine have resulted in at least six deaths and 38 injuries over the past 24 hours, according to local authorities. The attacks were widespread, affecting multiple oblasts from the northeast to the south, with particularly severe impacts in the eastern and southeastern regions.

A notable incident occurred in the front-line city of Zaporizhzhia, where an overnight strike damaged a shopping mall and an educational institution. Regional officials confirmed that eight people in the area were wounded, including residents evacuated from apartment buildings after the impact.

Air defense systems intercept majority of drones

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 172 drones overnight. According to the ministry, 148 of these unmanned aerial vehicles were successfully intercepted. Authorities also stated that they downed an S8000 Banderol, a hybrid weapon described as combining features of a cruise missile and a jet-powered drone.

Casualties reported across multiple regional fronts

In eastern Donetsk Oblast, regional governor Vadym Filashkin said three people were killed and 12 others wounded. In northeastern Kharkiv Oblast, authorities reported one death and five injuries, including a 13-year-old boy who sustained severe burns in a drone strike near the village of Lozova.

Sumy Oblast confirmed the deaths of a 38-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man, along with three other injuries, including a 14-year-old girl. Meanwhile, in southern Kherson Oblast, nine people were wounded, and a strike on supermarket warehouses in Odesa caused property damage but no casualties, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper.

Infrastructure and agricultural sites targeted

Beyond civilian casualties, Russian troops attacked an agricultural enterprise in the village of Semenivka in northern Chernihiv Oblast. Governor Viacheslav Chaus stated that a hangar containing straw was destroyed, and machinery and storage facilities were damaged. He noted that cattle on the site were also affected by the incident.

The Kyiv Independent notes that these strikes highlight the continued pressure on both civilian infrastructure and rural economic assets. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a 20-year-old woman was also reported wounded in recent attacks on the region, underscoring the broad geographic reach of the current offensive operations.
