Silver prices surged 1.66% while gold gained 0.52% as markets await the Federal Reserve's policy move.

Silver futures rose 1.66 percent to an intraday high of 235,988 Indian Rupees. Gold futures gained 0.52 percent to reach 151,598 Rupees. These moves occurred as traders awaited the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.

Softer crude oil prices and lower US bond yields reduced pressure on the dollar. The white metal traded 1.28 percent higher at the last count. Gold held above its 50-day exponential moving average after opening with a gap.

Technical levels define trading range

Analysts from GN auto markets/commodities identify 154,000 to 154,700 Rupees as immediate resistance for gold. Support lies at 150,700 to 150,000 Rupees. A break above the resistance zone targets 156,300 Rupees.

Silver faces resistance at 239,000 to 240,000 Rupees. The support zone is set at 234,000 to 233,000 Rupees. Prices recovered from the 230,000 Rupee level earlier in the session.

Geopolitical risks boost safe-haven demand

Unresolved tensions between the US and Iran continue to support bullion prices. Reports of a Houthi drone interception by Saudi Arabia added to uncertainty. Explosions on Qeshm Island further fueled market caution.

Rate hike expectations shape outlook

Experts expect the Federal Reserve to raise rates by 25 basis points. International gold futures for December delivery rose approximately 1 percent. The price reached 4,380 US dollars per ounce.
