Brent crude dropped to 107.90 dollars per barrel on September 16, 2026. US equity indices closed lower across the board. The dollar remained stable against major currencies.

Brent crude oil closed at 107.90 dollars per barrel. This represents a decrease of 0.85 dollars from the previous session. WTI crude fell to 104.62 dollars, down by 1.21 dollars. Gold prices adjusted downward to 4,366.40 dollars per ounce. The metal lost 33.60 dollars in value during the trading day.

US stock markets ended the session in negative territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 328.09 points to 52,093.11. The S&P 500 index declined by 34.25 points to close at 7,585.73. The Nasdaq Composite fell by 204.84 points to reach 25,981.57.

European and Asian Equities Retreat

European benchmarks posted modest losses on the day. The Dax index in Germany fell by 38.53 points to 25,402.28. The FTSE 100 in London decreased by 39.44 points to 10,658.13. In Asia, the Nikkei average dropped slightly by 8.89 points to 63,484.10.

The Shanghai Composite Index lost 21.05 points to stand at 3,864.28. The BIST 100 index in Turkey saw a sharper decline of 343.53 points. It closed at 13,892.30 after the drop. The RTS index in Russia decreased by 7.91 points to 874.02.

Currency Pairs Show Minimal Movement

The US dollar held steady against the euro and pound. The USD/EUR pair remained unchanged at 1.1544. The USD/GBP rate also stayed flat at 1.3483. The Japanese yen strengthened slightly against the dollar. The JPY/USD rate rose by 0.24 points to 155.3400.

The Russian ruble weakened marginally against the US dollar. The RUB/USD rate decreased by 0.05 points to 84.2501. The Turkish lira appreciated slightly, with the TRY/USD rate rising by 0.03 points to 48.6559. The Chinese yuan remained unchanged at 6.7102 against the dollar, as reported by GN auto markets/forex.
