Up to 50 percent of Bitcoin Suisse's Swiss workforce faces relocation as the firm shifts back-office operations to lower-cost hubs in Bratislava and Vietnam to support global expansion.

Bitcoin Suisse will move up to 60 of its 120 Swiss jobs abroad. The company plans to relocate back-office functions to Bratislava and Vietnam. This move affects half of its current Swiss headcount. The changes are part of a broader strategy to expand international operations.

Cointelegraph reports that the firm aims to reduce operating costs significantly. CEO Andrej Majcen stated that running these services in the new locations is less expensive. He clarified that the restructuring is not a response to market weakness. Instead, it supports the growth of its global wealth management business.

Cost drivers behind the restructuring

The primary goal is to lower expenses for administrative roles. The company will establish new locations in the two target countries. These hubs offer a more favorable cost structure than Switzerland. The shift allows Bitcoin Suisse to reallocate capital toward core business growth.

Expansion into global wealth management

In June, the firm announced its intent to serve institutional clients. It targets family offices, asset managers, and high-net-worth individuals. This marks a pivot from a purely Swiss crypto trader to a global platform. The company seeks to compete in the broader asset management sector.

Bitcoin Suisse has secured regulatory licenses in Liechtenstein and Bermuda. Its subsidiary in Abu Dhabi received full approval in July. These regulatory steps support the firm’s international ambitions. The company positions itself for long-term growth outside the Swiss market.

Strategic shift from local to global

Founded in Zug in 2013, the firm offers trading and custody services. The restructuring reflects a maturing business model. By moving non-core functions abroad, it focuses on high-value services. This approach aligns with industry trends of optimizing operational efficiency.
