Toyosa Accepts Bitcoin for Toyota Purchases in Bolivia

Toyosa now accepts Bitcoin for Toyota vehicle purchases in Bolivia, adding BTC to its existing payment options.
Toyosa added Bitcoin as a payment method for Toyota vehicles in Bolivia. This move expands the company's digital asset checkout service launched one year ago.
Customers can now pay with Bitcoin alongside bolivianos, U.S. dollars, and Tether's USDT. The service was unveiled on September 18 at Expocruz 2026 in Santa Cruz.
Infrastructure Supports New Payment Option
BitGo provides the institutional wallet infrastructure for the Bitcoin service. Towerbank handles transaction processing and digital asset support.
BitGo confirmed the arrangement on September 20. The company stated that BitGo Bank & Trust supplies the wallet security and traceability for the payments.
GN auto markets/crypto: digital asset reported that the companies have not disclosed specific settlement details. It is unclear if Toyosa retains Bitcoin or converts it to fiat currency.
Expansion Follows Stablecoin Rollout
The Bitcoin service builds on a system introduced in September 2025. That launch allowed customers to use USDT for vehicles, parts, and services.
The previous system used BitGo and Towerbank infrastructure. Customers selected a blockchain network and scanned a QR code to complete payments.
Bolivia removed its crypto payment ban in 2024. This regulatory change enabled financial institutions to expand digital asset services.
Company Withholds Transaction Volume Data
Toyosa did not publish Bitcoin sales totals for the new service. The company also did not identify the first buyer using Bitcoin.
