Zcash Surges 23% Amid Bitcoin Rally and Fed Rate Hike

Zcash jumped 23% to $1,369 while Bitcoin held above $76,000. The Federal Reserve raised rates by 25 basis points, a move the market priced in.
Zcash rose 23% to approximately $1,369 in the last 24 hours. Bitcoin traded near $76,258, gaining less than 1%. This movement occurred despite the Federal Reserve raising its benchmark interest rate by a quarter point.
The broader crypto market advanced alongside global stock futures. Solana climbed nearly 3% to just under $100. Ether, XRP, and Dogecoin all posted gains between 1% and 2%.
Paradigm Discloses Zcash Holdings
Matt Huang, co-founder of Paradigm, revealed the firm owns Zcash. Huang described the token as a private complement to Bitcoin. He advocated for continued developer funding and a mixed governance model for network changes.
Zcash allows users to send money without revealing transaction details publicly. Recent proposals supported by holders aim to speed up payments. These changes also maintain scheduled reductions in new coin creation.
Fed Signals Limited Further Tightening
The Federal Reserve raised rates to a range of 3.75% to 4.0%. This was the first increase since 2023. The median projection shows the policy rate at 4.1% for both 2026 and 2027.
Jeff Ko of ViaBTC stated the move was largely priced in. He noted the Fed does not envision an aggressive tightening cycle. Markets appeared reassured by the central bank’s efforts to contain inflation.
Equity Markets Rebound After Decision
S&P 500 futures rose 0.6% and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.7%. Asian equities added 0.3% in early trading. The two-year Treasury yield eased two basis points to 4.71%.
Higher rates typically reduce capital available for speculative assets. However, investors focused on the limited scope of future hikes. This sentiment supported risk assets according to CoinDesk reporting.
