Florida Gas Average Crosses Four Dollars per Gallon
Florida's average gasoline price reached $4.14 per gallon on Sunday, the first time it has exceeded the four-dollar mark since early June. This level is 23 cents higher than the previous week and $1.18 above the price recorded one year ago.
The state average climbed to $4.14 per gallon on Sunday. This is the first time the average has passed $4 since June 1, 2026. The price is 19 cents higher than a month ago. Crude Oil Surges Past $100
US crude oil prices rose nearly 20 percent in two weeks. The cost climbed from $83 per barrel to over $100 per barrel. Crude oil accounts for more than half of the retail price of gasoline. Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA, linked the spike to Middle East tensions. He stated that these tensions caused oil prices to surge. This increased the cost of producing gasoline.
Local Prices Remain Below State Average
Escambia County posted a lower average of $3.97 per gallon on Sunday night. The lowest price in the county was $3.75 on Nine Mile Road. In Cantonment, a station on Muscogee Road charged $3.96. These local figures sit below the state-wide average. Drivers in these areas face slightly lower costs than the state average.
Price Cycle Ceiling Shifts Higher
Florida pump prices typically spike early in the week. They then decline gradually through the weekend. Previously, these weekly peaks topped out around $3.99 per gallon. With crude oil now above $100, the ceiling has moved higher. AAA projects the state average could reach $4.19 per gallon. This outcome depends on oil prices remaining elevated.
