Metro markets show mixed performance
Birmingham recorded 1,180 home sales in August. The median price in this metro stood at $329,950. Inventory dropped 15.4% year-over-year to 4,455 units.
Huntsville saw sales increase 10.7% to 711 units. The median price rose to $345,000. Days on market fell 19.2% to 42 days.
Statewide volume and inventory data
Active listings reached 22,006 at the end of July. This is a 6.3% increase from the 20,698 listings a year prior. Sold volume grew 39.4% annually.
Foreclosures numbered 704 in July. This reflects a 28.3% year-over-year increase. The figure remains below the 849 foreclosures recorded in July 2019.
