Rentomojo Trades 44% Above IPO Price Despite Second-Day Dip

The online furniture rental platform remains significantly ahead of its issue price, though the stock faced early pressure in its second session.
Rentomojo shares ended their second trading session down 1.5%, yet the stock maintained a 44% premium over the IPO issue price of Rs.404. According to data reported by GN stocks/ipo, the company’s market capitalization stands at Rs.5,548.80 crore following the strong debut. The stock opened at Rs.566.95 on the BSE, touching a low of Rs.524.95 before recovering to trade in the mid-500s.
The initial listing on Thursday saw the shares close at Rs.532.95 on the BSE, a 31.91% gain over the issue price. Trading volume was substantial, with 47.51 lakh shares exchanged on the BSE and 458.89 lakh shares on the NSE. The Rs.1,256-crore offering was subscribed 72.88 times, indicating robust institutional and retail interest in the asset-heavy rental model.
IPO Structure And Capital Allocation
The offering consists of a fresh issue worth up to Rs.150 crore and an Offer for Sale (OFS) of 2.73 crore shares. The OFS, valued at up to Rs.1,106 crore, involves existing shareholders including Accel India, IDG Ventures, and ValueQuest. These investors are exiting positions as the company transitions to public equity markets.
Proceeds from the new capital are earmarked for debt repayment, lease rentals for warehouses, and experience store license fees. The company also intends to use funds for general corporate purposes, a standard allocation for firms scaling their physical infrastructure and operational footprint.
Operational Metrics And Revenue Sustainability
Market watchers emphasize the need to monitor the sustainability of rental revenue streams. As an asset-heavy business, Rentomojo must demonstrate consistent earnings growth and profitability to justify its current valuation. The ability to maintain margins while managing the costs associated with a large fleet of furniture and appliances is the primary operational challenge.
Investors are advised to focus on the company's capacity to deliver financial results that align with its growth trajectory. The current trading premium reflects optimism about the rental model, but long-term value creation depends on the execution of its capital-intensive strategy and the efficiency of its asset turnover.
