Baker Hughes has secured two major orders to supply critical infrastructure components for Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG facility expansion in Louisiana. The contracts include a substantial deployment of gas compression systems for the Cloud Connector Pipeline and a modular liquefaction solution designed to increase production capacity at the existing terminal. These awards deepen the long-standing strategic partnership between the two companies, focusing on integrated natural gas infrastructure.
The pipeline award specifically involves 13 gas compression systems driven by Frame 5/2E gas turbines. This represents one of the largest deployments for LNG feed gas transportation in the United States, enabling efficient transport of feed gas to the Plaquemines facility. The liquefaction award comprises four blocks containing eight total modules, including Chart cold boxes, to support additional LNG output.
Cloud Connector Pipeline Compression Scope
The Cloud Connector order is the second batch of Frame 5/2E gas turbine-driven centrifugal compressor packages for Venture Global’s feed gas pipeline. This addition expands the total fleet to 23 such systems dedicated to the Plaquemines LNG facility. The scope reinforces Baker Hughes’ role in providing reliable feed gas transportation, which is essential for the terminal’s operational efficiency.

The liquefaction solution delivered by Baker Hughes includes four distinct blocks, each based on two electric-motor driven, single mixed-refrigerant (SMR) modules. These modules feature associated compression trains utilizing advanced centrifugal compressor technology, along with air coolers and integrated control systems. This configuration mirrors the scope recently awarded for the CP2 project, indicating a standardized approach to scaling capacity.
The expansion supports more than 100 million tonnes per annum of existing and planned LNG production capacity associated with the partnership. By providing these modular units, Baker Hughes is directly contributing to the incremental output of the Plaquemines facility, which aims to deliver reliable supply to global markets.

Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel stated that the collaboration supports the expansion plans and ensures reliable feed gas transportation. Baker Hughes Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli noted that U.S. natural gas delivers energy continuity required for industries and economies.
