Addus HomeCare Buys AccentCare Personal Care Unit for $275 Million

Addus HomeCare expands its footprint across ten states by acquiring AccentCare's personal care division, adding roughly $280 million in annualized revenue.
Addus HomeCare Corporation has agreed to purchase most of AccentCare’s personal care operations for approximately $275 million. The transaction excludes AccentCare’s hospice and home health segments as well as its New York state operations. By integrating this business, Addus expands its geographic reach into ten states and adds an estimated $280 million in annualized revenue to its top line.
The acquired operations serve an average daily census of approximately 13,700 customers. Addus intends to fund the acquisition using cash on hand and borrowings from its revolving credit facility. The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, with no specific timeline provided by the companies.
Revenue Growth and Geographic Expansion
The acquisition significantly increases the scale of Addus’ personal care business in Texas, Illinois, California, and Arizona. It also grants the company entry into Colorado, Georgia, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington. This broader platform provides greater density in existing markets while establishing a presence in new regions.
CEO Dirk Allison stated that the deal is expected to be accretive to financial results. The added revenue represents roughly 19% of Addus’ current revenue base. This expansion aligns with the company’s strategy of building a scaled, non-franchised home care platform.
Strategic Rationale for Caregiver Density
Scale and geographic density are critical for managing caregiver recruitment, scheduling, and payer relationships. The established service base of 13,700 daily customers allows Addus to leverage existing operations rather than building them organically. This structure supports efficient local service delivery across large patient populations.
Allison noted that the acquisition enhances Addus’ capability to collaborate with managed care organizations and value-based care partners. The increased scale strengthens the company’s position in these partnerships. AccentCare CEO Laura Tortorella described Addus as an ideal home for the personal care operations and their dedicated caregivers.
Funding and Integration Considerations
Addus will finance the purchase through a combination of internal cash and revolving credit facility borrowings. The final consideration is subject to customary purchase price adjustments. The companies did not disclose the number of employees involved or provide specific details about integration plans.
According to GN auto stocks/healthcare: home health reporting, the transaction represents a significant deployment of capital for Addus. The move combines market expansion with increased operating scale, allowing the company to consolidate its position in the personal care sector. The deal finalizes a strategic shift toward a denser, multi-state operational model.
