Disney Hires Character.AI Founder as First Chief Technology Officer
Disney has appointed Karandeep Anand, the former head of Character.AI, as its first Chief Technology Officer, a move that follows a recent copyright dispute between the two companies. The studio is simultaneously recruiting key members of Anand’s former technical team to bolster its AI and infrastructure divisions under CEO Josh D’Amaro.
Variety reports that Disney is also bringing in 'a number' of engineers from Character.AI alongside Anand, who will report directly to CEO Josh D’Amaro starting October 2. This bulk hiring strategy underscores D’Amaro’s push to modernize Disney’s internal infrastructure and AI capabilities.
