The Battery Show North America is set to return to Detroit in October 2026, bringing together over 16,000 engineers, executives, and innovators at Huntington Place. Scheduled from October 12 to 15, the event serves as a central hub for professionals focused on battery technology, electric vehicles, and energy storage. The primary goal is to facilitate direct interaction between industry leaders and to showcase the latest advancements in cleantech manufacturing.

The state is home to the headquarters of General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, and hosts a majority of the top 100 automotive suppliers in North America. With more than one million jobs in Michigan dependent on this industry, the conference aims to tackle the defining challenges impacting the sector, from sustainable manufacturing processes to breakthrough battery chemistries.

Five tracks define the technical agenda

According to GN auto tech/ev, the program features over 140 sessions, workshops, and panels spread across four days. The curriculum is divided into five specific tracks: battery chemistry and materials, electrified vehicle systems, battery manufacturing and supply chain, energy storage and grid applications, and advanced air mobility. This structure allows attendees to engage with content that is highly specific to their professional focus, whether they are concerned with raw material sourcing or grid integration.

The event includes hands-on workshops and an open tech forum, providing opportunities for practical learning rather than just passive listening. Notable speakers include executives from Panasonic Connect, General Motors, ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions, and LG Energy Solution. Their participation highlights the collaborative nature of the industry, where quality control, sustainability, and manufacturing efficiency are discussed alongside product development.

Regional economic stakes drive attendance

Detroit’s role as the host city is not incidental. The concentration of major vehicle manufacturers and suppliers in the region creates a dense ecosystem for innovation. Suzanne Deffree, Group Vice President at Manufacturing by Informa, describes the event as the global epicenter of innovation for the battery and EV industry. The focus is on solving real-world problems, such as sustainable solutions and transformative EV infrastructure, which are critical for the long-term viability of electric mobility.

The conference also includes an executive summit and a battery awards ceremony, recognizing significant contributions to the field. For many attendees, the networking aspect is as valuable as the technical content, allowing for the exchange of insights on supply chain resilience and market trends. Registration and scheduling details for visitors

Registration for the event is currently open, with organizers encouraging early sign-up. The schedule is structured to allow for both deep technical dives and broader industry discussions. Workshops take place on Monday, October 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibition hall opens on Tuesday, October 13, and runs through Thursday, October 15, with slightly varying hours each day.

The conference sessions run parallel to the expo from Tuesday to Thursday, starting at 9 a.m. and ending between 3 and 4:30 p.m., depending on the day. This overlap allows attendees to move seamlessly between learning sessions and the product showcase. The event location is Huntington Place at 1 Washington Blvd in Detroit, a venue well-equipped to handle the scale of this global gathering.
