This optional kit includes 22-inch forged wheels and gold brake calipers, adding a visual upgrade to the vehicle one day after the model reached 150,000 cumulative deliveries.
According to reporting by eletric-vehicles.com, the package is designed to enhance the car's aesthetic appeal without altering its performance characteristics. To encourage adoption, Nio is offering a 10,000-yuan allowance toward optional equipment and preferential financing for orders locked in by the end of September.
Forged wheels define the visual upgrade
The centerpiece of the package is a set of 22-inch wheels made from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy. These wheels are forged under high pressure and heat-treated to reduce weight while maintaining structural strength. Each wheel weighs 18.5 kilograms, which is lighter than standard cast alternatives, helping to keep the unsprung mass low.
The design includes floating center caps that keep the brand logo upright as the wheel rotates, a feature previously reserved for Nio's flagship sedan. The brake calipers are finished in a "Dawn Gold" color, described by the company as being inspired by natural light. Buyers of the higher-tier Executive Signature trim pay less for the package because this version already includes similar wheels and calipers as standard equipment.
Credit offsets the high sticker price
While the list price for the wheel kit is significant, Nio has structured a promotion to lower the effective cost. Customers who finalize their orders by September 30 can apply a 10,000-yuan credit toward optional equipment. This effectively reduces the net cost of the package for those who take advantage of the incentive, though it does not cover the full price.
The promotion also includes a financing plan with no interest for the first 24 months. After that period, the interest rate rises to an annualized 5.64 percent. This trade-off means that while the initial monthly payments are lower, the total cost of borrowing over the full 60-month term is higher than with immediate cash payment.
Strong sales support the new option
The launch of the new package comes at a time of steady demand for the ES8. The model has sold 150,000 units in its first year, maintaining a consistent delivery pace of approximately 10,000 units every 30 days. Nio states that the ES8 is the top-selling large SUV in China regardless of powertrain type or price range.
With the base price of the ES8 starting at around $61,000 with the battery included, the new wheel kit represents a premium add-on for owners seeking a more distinctive look. The company has not confirmed whether similar packages will be available for other models in its lineup.
