Apple’s latest update brings a practical tool that pulls relevant details from your email and calendar directly onto the screen while you are on a call with a company.

Apple has introduced a new feature in iOS 27 designed to reduce the friction of making business calls. Known as Call Context, this tool automatically identifies relevant information from other apps on your device and displays it on the Phone app interface. The goal is to save users from fumbling for confirmation codes or booking details while trying to speak with a representative.

According to reporting from 9to5Mac, the feature is powered by Apple Intelligence and works by scanning across your device for data that matches the number you are dialing. If you are calling an airline, for example, it can surface flight details or confirmation numbers stored in your Mail app. This eliminates the need to manually switch between apps or keep a physical note nearby during the conversation.

Automatic details appear on screen

In practical terms, the feature acts as a digital assistant for the call. When a user dials a business number, the system cross-references that number with recent communications. If a match is found, such as a booking confirmation from an email, that information is proactively presented on the call screen. The user does not need to search for or manually input these details.

The system is designed to prioritize the most relevant piece of information. However, if multiple items are associated with the business, they are stacked on the screen. This allows the user to quickly tap on a different detail if the initial suggestion is not the correct one. The interface remains clean, ensuring that the primary focus stays on the active call.

Integration with existing Apple devices

Call Context is not limited to just displaying text. In some scenarios, the system can offer to read out specific details, such as a confirmation code, directly into the microphone. This is particularly useful for users who are multitasking or holding their phone in one hand. It streamlines the process of verifying identity or booking details with customer service agents.

The feature is part of the broader Apple Intelligence suite, meaning it relies on on-device processing to maintain privacy. It does not require sending your personal data to external servers for this specific function. This integration ensures that the information surfaced is both secure and contextually accurate based on your local data.

Language and hardware requirements exist

Despite its utility, the feature has specific limitations. It is currently available only in English, which excludes a significant portion of global users at launch. This linguistic restriction means that users speaking other languages will not have access to the automatic surfacing of information in their native tongue.

Furthermore, the feature is restricted to hardware that supports Apple Intelligence. This includes recent models of iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. Older devices, even if they are updated to iOS 27, will not have this capability. Users must check their specific device compatibility to determine if they can use this new Phone app feature.
