Vivo's new flagship prioritizes professional video tools and a 400mm equivalent telephoto lens, though the top-tier specs are limited to the largest model.

Key points

  • Vivo X500 Pro Max features a 200MP ZEISS telephoto camera with 400mm equivalent zoom capability.
  • The series supports DaVinci Resolve color grading and 10-bit 4:2:2 video encoding for professional workflows.
  • The top-tier 8,000 mAh battery and 6.85-inch screen are exclusive to the X500 Pro Max model.

Vivo has officially launched its X500 series, placing a heavy emphasis on professional-grade photography and videography. The lineup includes the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max, with the two Pro models powered by the new 2nm MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chip.

According to reporting from VOI.ID, the series is built around a new imaging stack designed to handle high dynamic range and color grading previously reserved for cinema cameras. This shift positions the phones as serious tools for creators, not just casual users.

Top Model Gets the Best Camera

The X500 Pro Max is the standout device, featuring a 200-megapixel ZEISS telephoto camera. It supports an external extender that achieves a 400mm focal length, allowing for extreme zoom without significant loss of detail.

The main sensor is a Sony LYTIA L910 with a 17 EV dynamic range. This hardware combination supports 4K slow-motion video at 240 frames per second and 8K live recording, making it the most capable camera in the series.

Cinema Tools for Smartphone Users

Vivo has integrated DaVinci Resolve color grading support, enabling phone footage to be processed using the same color spaces as professional cinema cameras. This is a significant step for mobile videographers who need consistent color pipelines.

The phones also support 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding with ACES, which preserves more color data during post-production. New cinematic modes include auto-framing and dual-view options, simplifying complex shots for non-experts.

Battery and Screen Trade-offs

The Pro Max model includes an 8,000 mAh battery and a 6.85-inch display, while the standard Pro has a 6,510 mAh battery and a 6.36-inch screen. The base X500 model uses a 3nm chip and a lower-tier sensor, reflecting its lower price point.

All models run Android 17 with OriginOS 17. However, the most advanced video features and the largest battery are exclusive to the Pro Max, meaning users must choose the biggest phone to access the full potential of the new imaging stack.
